| Clarinet Solo - Two Minuets |

Two Minuets is arranged from the Little Clavier Book
and is a setting of two familiar Bach melodies. The two selections within the piece
contract from major to minor tonalities and the use of dynamics, breath marks, and
accents helps with recreating the baroque style. Careful editing of phrasing and
fingerings makes the piece attainable and musically satisfying.

Gavotta is a light technical selection that makes a
good study in articulation and style. Good use of accents, dynamics, and staccato gives
the student an opportunity to develop musicality in a solo that has a dance-like feel.

Adagio in C Major is a good study in the Mozart style
that is accessible by middle school clarinetists. While not technically difficult, it
is still musically rewarding for older players looking for a good concert piece to show
off their musicality. This is carefully edited to create a stylistically authentic
performance. Using the same musical material as the Adagio in C Major for flute quartet,
this is arranged to show off the unique sonorities of the clarinet quartet.
